Pair of 4-way stops coming to Surprise

2 intersections affected in west Surprise

Posted

A traffic pattern change is coming to two intersections of 175th Avenue in Surprise.

Four-way stops will be added at Surprise Farms Loop North and Surprise Farms Loop South on Monday, June 28.

Due to Dysart Unified School District boundary changes slated for the upcoming school year, the city and school district collaborated on a Safe Routes to School study to identify new and modified locations for crosswalks.

Study results estimate that in the coming school year, 90 students will cross the two intersections identified for the traffic pattern change. The intersections are currently two-way stops, and transitioning to four-way stops with crossing guards during mornings and afternoons will increase safety for children walking to schools in the area.

Remember to drive cautiously through the area as drivers adjust to the changes — and always watch for pedestrians.
