Letters: Voting ‘yes’ on override is ‘no-brainer’

Posted

The business growth we have been fortunate to see in our community works in tandem with having excellent schools. Dysart schools play a significant role in attracting and retaining businesses, providing job opportunities and protecting our property values by providing an excellent quality of education.

We have been fortunate to attract several great businesses both in and around Surprise in recent years. Dysart has eight schools rated as “A+ Schools of Excellence” and 17 schools rated “A” or “B” by the Department of Education. We have a 94% graduation rate, which is the best in the West Valley.

Before deciding to support the override, I asked myself, “What is in the best interest of the students?” Continuation of the override will allow the district to continue to attract and retain highly qualified teachers, maintain full-day kindergarten and support the amazing programs within our schools.

With new businesses coming in, our students’ families can work closer to home and enjoy safe, thriving communities. Additionally, continuing the override does not raise taxes. Voting “yes” for Dysart is a no-brainer.
