Letters: Schools are still severely underfunded

Posted

The Dysart Unified School District has done a remarkable job for our kids thanks to community support. I was proud to chair the successful 2015 override, yet our schools today remain seriously underfunded as we face tremendous growth in our community.

Students and educators deserve schools that are safe, secure, air conditioned, with up-to-date classroom materials and technology to teach and learn. Dysart is asking for this and nothing more.

Our schools are our community’s most valuable assets. When we support and maintain these assets, they serve as economic engines to support public safety, improve the quality of life, provide for job growth and development and support of Luke Air Force Base.

Many of our community’s retirees served in the military and depend on the Base for vital services. New young families that are active-duty Air Force select the Base for their assignment because of Dysart schools.

Dysart is their district. Dysart Schools help to sustain and support the mission of Luke. These measures create a highly trained work force, attract economic opportunities and maintain property values.

Please join me in voting “yes” for Dysart schools.
