Letters: Independent is pushing pro-tax propaganda

Posted

On Sept. 30, the Surprise Independent published an issue that is best described as a massive pro-tax-hike propaganda piece.

There was an article by Jennifer Jimenez that is blatantly one-sided in favor of keeping taxes high. She never even attempted to reach out to us for a statement or to ask a single question. Ms. Jimenez has been criticized before about her activism disguised as journalism.

The editors then allowed a DUSD cabinet member to pen his own article, a thinly-disguised attempt to “chicken little” the voters with fear of the sky falling if taxes are lowered. And of course, the “letters” section was stacked with pro-tax opinions.

All well-coordinated (even though DUSD is prohibited by law from attempting to affect the election or coordinating with those who do) and wrapped in a nice neat package meant to persuade you to hand them more money.

Shame on the “Independent” for their complete lack of integrity.

Folks, when you see the media, corporations, political operatives, and every “swampy” politician telling you to hand them more money “for the children,” you’re about to get screwed.

Vote “no.”
