Lamont: Music scene thriving in Surprise

Posted

Surprise has some of the best music in the Valley and some of the best music venues we’ve seen in a long time or maybe ever.

A lot of the bands consist of retired musicians from some of the top bands of yesteryear. How lucky are we to live in beautiful Surprise and enjoy the great music all around.

The Chicken Ranch, 14051 W. Grand Ave., behind the Goodwill Store, has music six nights a week from 5 to 8 p.m. Dining, cocktails, it’s the hot spot in Surprise right now — from rock ‘n’ roll, Motown, country, karaoke.

Thaddeus Rose is usually playing solo on Wednesday evenings. Thaddeus is one of the best in the Valley. Friday night is great dance music along with the Fish Fry along with “The Couple Next Door” singing all your favorites. It’s wonderful dance music.

“Dillon and the High Desert Band” are playing every Tuesday evenings. Dillon took the place of the great Tim Hope and his Motown music. Tim will be back in the fall.

Rossana and Palmer are playing all your favorites on Thursdays. Palmer is a great talent playing four to five instruments every night, Rossana is a delight.

Saturday evening features Joe Fidanzo, who has become a favorite in the West Valley. Joe is with the Big River Band in Oregon, spends the winter months in Surprise.

Joe is a fantastic musician, he has found himself very busy this winter playing his great rock ‘n’ roll music at many venues around town. Monday evening is karaoke with Michelle and Rich Roberts.

They welcome everyone who likes to sing, come join the other singers. The owner of the Chicken Ranch always manages to find excellent groups to fill in if someone can’t make it.

I & J Fountain Restaurant, 12221 W. Bell Road, is a lovely place to go for a good meal and hear great music.

Monday and Tuesday evenings they have karaoke and Polish food is the special, the owner is from Poland. Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening they have live music. Just to name a few of the entertainers, “The Buckguysz” with Steve Russell and Tom Frante, “Ron Rose and Todd Carlson”, Ron was the only singer from Arizona that PBS choice to sing on the country music special two year ago. He has a beautiful baritone voice.

“Vinylic Recall”, presenting Marty Robbins Tribute, “Rossana and Palmer” great entertainers, I & J’s has a lot of tribute shows. It’s a great place for dining, dancing and live music.

Richi’s Diner, 15609 W. Bell Road, has Thursday evening on the patio with the great Joe Fidanzo. Joe is a talented musician playing all your favorite songs. He’s here in the Valley till the end of May.

In the summer is with the “Big River Band” in Oregon. Thursday evening is prime rib special at Richi’s. It is excellent!

Booty’s Wings Burgers and Beer, 15557 W. Bell Road, has entertainment every Wednesday and Friday.

The second and fourth Wednesday evenings the great Ron Rose is playing. Ron has a beautiful baritone voice, he’ll be singing all your favorite country songs. Ron was a contestant on “America Got Talent” a few years ago. Booty’s is know for their chicken wings, winning three awards at the National Buffalo Wing Festival in Buffalo, New York.

Brookside II Sport Bar and Grille, 15170 W. Bell Road, has Western Fusion, one of the top bands in the area every Thursday evening starting at 7.
