Greenway Road improvements begin in west Surprise

Work from Cotton to Sarival to last nearly a year

The long-awaited Greenway Road improvement project from approximately Cotton Lane to Sarival Avenue is set to begin Thursday, Dec. 3.

The project will finish the south half of Greenway, adding two travel lanes and eliminating areas of the road that have multiple lanes merging into one lane.

From Monday, Dec. 7, until Friday, April 2, left turns will be restricted from Greenway onto Northwest Ranch Parkway and from Northwest Ranch onto Greenway.

During this time, the access  at Northwest Ranch and Greenway will be right-in/right-out only.

Improvements also include new turn lanes, drainage infrastructure, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, street lighting and landscaping.

The project kicks off with utility work, which will force lane restrictions on Greenway eastbound and westbound approaching Loop 303. One lane in each direction will be maintained, and turning movements will not be affected.

Drivers can expect roadway restrictions, traffic control changes and reduced speed limits throughout the duration of the project, which is scheduled to be complete in November, weather permitting.
