Sun City West facility earns Beacon Award

Posted

One of the most highly rated senior living facility in the country is right outside Surprise, according to the International Council on Active Aging.

Sun Health’s Grandview Terrace, a Life Care Community at 14515 W. Granite Valley Drive, Sun City West, was recently picked as one of 25 communities in U.S. for the prestigious 2019 ICAA NuStep Beacon Award.

The honor recognizes facilities that foster a “wellness-centered environment to benefit all who live and work there.”

ICAA and NuStep, LLC, teamed up to create the joint venture. Both groups have been long-time advocates for older adult wellness.

“Senior living communities have been aware for a long time how important wellness is for the health of their residents, which is reflected in a survey ICAA recently conducted,” said ICAA CEO and founder Colin Milner. “The survey shows that 59% of senior living communities state that their business model will be wellness-centered with care services by 2023.”

Seven key dimensions are typically used to define wellness. Those are emotional, physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, vocational and environmental.

The ICAA said prioritizing the nurturing of those seven dimensions will improve quality of life.
