Dysart continues collecting financial reporting awards

Posted

Dysart Unified School District has once again received awards for meeting high standards on the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

This is the 27th consecutive year Dysart has received the Association of School Business Officials International award, and 18th consecutive year that Dysart has achieved the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada award.

“We take great care to ensure the fidelity of our financial reports,” said Ken Hicks, assistant superintendent for business and operations. “It is an honor to receive these awards that reflect Dysart’s dedication to transparency and accountability to our local taxpayers.”

ASBO awarded Dysart Schools with the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting, for meeting high standards for financial reporting and transparency. By participating in the ASBO COE program, school districts demonstrate their commitment to financial transparency and excellence in financial reporting.

The CAFR must inform stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, and be a communications tool to engage with the community.

Additionally, Dysart received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the GFOA. The GFOA Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by an organization and its management.

In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, an organization must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized CAFR. This report must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.

The awards were presented to the district governing board at the Aug. 25 board meeting. Dysart budget and financial reports are always available for viewing at Dysart.org/Budget.
