Daughters commemorate 9/11, U.S. Constitution

Members of the White Tank Mountain Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) met Sept. 11 to remember those who lost their lives 20 years ago on Sept. 11, 2001, and to celebrate the 234th anniversary of America’s enduring Constitution.
Surprise Mayor Skip Hall’s proclamation commemorating Sept. 17-23, 2021, as Constitution Week was presented to the membership.
Chapter members participated in a skit commemorating the September 1787 Great Procession in Philadelphia. The Great Procession was organized in just three days when the tenth of the original thirteen colonies officially approved the Constitution.
Chapter officers also updated the membership on various fundraising activities including the chapter’s collection of pop-top rings for the local chapter of the Children of the American Revolution (CAR).
In honor of the occasion, member Karen Hodes served gingerbread she baked using an updated version of the recipe used by President George Washington’s mother, Mary Ball Washington.
