Fountain: Leaving a legacy of accomplishments

Fountain running for Surprise City Council in District 2

Posted

Please let me introduce or reintroduce myself to the citizens of District 2. I am Dr. Wendell V. Fountain and my wife, Grace, and I live at 15029 W. Gentle Breeze Way in Sun City Grand of the great and growing city of Surprise.

This is our final home of record, and I hope to leave a legacy of positive accomplishments and achievements, which will endure long after I’m gone, but without your vote, none of this will be realized.

We first became aware of Surprise in 2013, and we began to investigate the area. By the summer of 2014, we leased a house for two months from a friend and current resident. At the end of those two months, we knew that at some point we would return as residents of Sun City Grand.

It took us four long years to finally sell our property in Laughlin, Nevada, but in August 2017, we finally became fulltime residents.

Over the past three years, our love and devotion has only grown for District 2 and the city of Surprise. God has truly been good to us.

We’ve cemented many great relationships and friendships in this community, as well as Phoenix, where I have been teaching graduate business courses — such as Leadership and Organizational Behavior for Grand Canyon University in the Jerry Coangelo College of Business for more than two years.

On the whole, I have taught graduate business courses for many colleges and universities nationwide for 40 years. I have been president and principal consultant of Fountain Associates Business & Management Consultants since 1984.

Over the years, we have helped craft strategies which guide organizations and businesses into the future. We have served for-profit and nonprofit companies and all levels of government from local and state to the federal government.

As an elected volunteer (1982-2007), I helped craft a strategy which took VyStar Credit Union of north Florida from a membership (165,000) and asset base of ($170 million) to what is now a membership base of (765,000) and an asset base of ($8.3 billion).

The motto of the credit union movement-industry is “People helping people” and that is what I’ve done throughout my life. Related to that, recently, I found it, insensitive, irresponsible, and hurtful for [current Councilwoman] Nancy Hayden to imply that I don’t care about people.

I have also prepared myself educationally, including my earned doctorate in business administration (D.B.A.) from Nova Southeastern University, B.A. in psychology from the University of North Florida and master’s degree (M.A.) in human resources management from Pepperdine University.

Post-doctorly, I completed courses at Harvard Business School, The Graduate School of Chicago, and The Wharton School.

For more information about me, please visit my website @ www.wendellfountain.com. You will also find I am author of many articles and books, including my latest book titled “TRUMP: Man, Phenomenon, President.”

Ultimately, I want to serve all citizens of District 2 and Surprise to the very best of my ability.
