Benevilla restarts enrichment programming

Benevilla Life Enrichment Day Programs are now open for all the West Valley.

The Surprise-based nonprofit thanks the community for its patience while closed during the pandemic.

“It was a difficult time for our members, staff and our community and we are so thankful to be able to offer our much-needed services to the community once again” said Benevilla Vice President of Program Operations Courtney Allen in a news release.

Benevilla, 16752 N. Greasewood St., reopened limited programming back in September.

“I am so excited to see my dad take part of social interactions and make new friends again” said Stephanie, a Benevilla caregiver who did not give her last name.

Benevilla has implemented several safety precautions, procedures and new habits to help keep staff and members safe and healthy. The team requires temperature checks on all members, staff and volunteers daily.

Directors of each program are making sure masks are being worn at all times and CDC-directed hand-washing is the norm. Adequate hand sanitizer is available for everyone. Glass partitions have been added to every table to ensure six-foot social distancing.

Many programming changes have been made to promote social distancing as well such as new lunch procedures, modified activities and more. However, Benevilla continues to provide quality care and socialization opportunities for each member and much-needed respite for caregivers in our community.

The community is excited to open again. The Life Enrichment Day Programs provide support to caregivers and time off from caregiving. Since it has reopened, families have noticed a change in their loved ones.

Benevilla is celebrating its 40-year anniversary of care and compassion and is ready to move forward, enjoy life and bring purpose back to its members and their families.

Benevilla offers four different Life Enrichment Day Programs. Lucy Anne’s Place, located in the main Surprise campus serves members with early to moderate stages of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

The West Valley Program in Peoria serves adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities, survivors of stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and early to moderate stages of dementia.
The Helping Partners Program in Sun City serves adult members with cognitive developmental disabilities. This is an active group also offering group supported employment opportunities allowing members to learn work skills and earn a paycheck.

Mary’s Place in Sun City offers care for loved ones with mid to advanced stages of dementia, those with Parkinson’s, stroke survivors and those with fall related injuries.
