Apache Junction High School Principal Dr. Chris Lineberry turned and looked at the two-dozen-plus students sitting on the stage of the Performing Arts Center.
“I couldn’t be more proud of you,” he said.
Dr. Lineberry had good reason to be proud. For a little more than an hour at the May 10 senior awards night, Apache Junction had recognized 18 seniors who earned a cumulative weighted grade point average of 4.0 or higher and announced $1.58 million in scholarships.
“What a great night,” Dr. Lineberry said.
Seniors with a weighted GPA of 4.0 or higher are: Mckayla Adams, Jessica Bautista Jose, Nicklas Bayer, Katelyn Beazley, Brianna Bogart, SeAnna Brennan, Chloe Collins, Kylee Demauro, Daylee Imus, Drake Kelley, Chloe Krueger, Melvin Lopez, Hunter Mayes, Hannah Molino, Ainsley Pape, Anthony Peters, Lizbeth Rodriguez, Hailey Tomczyk.
The scholarships awarded, the amount given to each student and the recipients:
Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce, $1,000: Katelyn Beazley, SeAnna Brennan
American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 27, $1,500: Brianna Bogart, Savanna Orrantia, Ainsley Pape
