Whitfield: Medical workers not conspiring

Posted

I would like to respond to the letter to the editor by a Sun City West resident Brian Reilly (“Reader Believes COVID-19 hyped for purpose,” Sun City West Independent, Jan. 12, 2022).

As a retired member of the nursing profession, may I say, with all due respect, Mr. Reilly, none of my fellow colleagues have conspired to bring a virus upon anyone. Your statements clearly show a lack of understanding about how a virus attacks the human body and changes the molecular structure of cells. No amount of thinking Mr. Trump won the presidential election forms any basis of how and why this virus has overtaken millions of people worldwide.

It is actually a good lesson in individual responsibility to keep one as healthy as one can (proper weight, exercise, not smoking, etc.) and that includes washing one’s hands often, and keeping dirty hands away from faces, It sounds simple, but true.

None of what you wrote is true, but you will be forgiven by God, I pray. I might add I have had two vaccines plus a booster, and never have contracted any of the COVID variants. If, Mr. Reilly, you should contract the virus, let’s hope there are nurses and doctors to save you.
