Walgreens and VillageMD announced they will continue their expansion throughout the Valley including Peoria, where a new location is expected to open in November.
The new facility, 28516 N. El Mirage Road is one of 22 Village Medical at Walgreens locations in the Phoenix area planned to open by the end of the year.
Village Medical at Walgreens are full-service primary care practices that integrate pharmacists as members of VillageMD’s physician-led, multidisciplinary care team.
The company opened a location at 20266 N. Lake Pleasant Road last December and a location 7448 W. Thunderbird Road in April.
The openings are part of a larger plan to open between 600 and 700 Village Medical at Walgreens in more than 30 U.S. markets within the next four years.
The strategic partnership between Walgreens and VillageMD aims to change how healthcare is delivered in this country, Jamie Vortherms, Walgreens vice president of healthcare services, stated in a news release.
“By coordinating Village Medical primary care with Walgreens pharmacy services in our stores and virtually, the patient experience is now improved with more convenient, in-neighborhood access to care,” Vortherms said.
With many locations in medically underserved areas, Village Medical at Walgreens will help meet the needs of patients, including those who may not have access to health care and are at greater risk of health disparities, according to the release.
Clinic hours are 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday-Sunday. Walk-ins and same-day appointments are welcome.
Patients may access care and support through in-person, at-home and tele-health visits. For more information and availability, visit villagemedical.com.
