At the Sun City West Kiwanis Induction lunch Oct. 4, John Patterson was honored with the George Hixson award. This is the highest award anyone can receive from Kiwanis. It is named for the first Kiwanis International president , George Hixson.

What makes this presentation so special , the Hixson award is usually awarded to a Kiwanian who has donated $1000 or more to the Kiwanis Children's Fund.

Mr. Patterson is not a Kiwanian, but over the past nine years he has donated space for the Sun City West

Kiwanis to sell See's candy , which is the organization’s biggest fundraiser.

“Because of being able to continue selling See's candy, we can continue to award grants and  support three elementary and two high schools plus Valley View Food Bank , Salvation Army, Make A Wish and more in the community,” Joe DeBlasi, Sun City West Kiwanis president said.
