Sun City Grand dance club hearkens back to Turkey Trot

Posted

The ballroom group in the Sun City Grand Dance Club remembers the Turkey Trot fad that was so popular in the early 1900s.

Dancers of the time were listening to ragtime and dancing to the Charleston, the Peabody, and, of course, the Turkey Trot which gave way quickly to the Fox Trot.

Bringing this dance into the 21st Century, this minth’s band will be The Breeze which will entertain us with foxtrots, waltzes, rumbas, swing, Latin and more up-to-date dances. The next dance is from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18 at the Sonoran Plaza, 19753 N. Remington Drive, Surprise.

Ticket prices at $12 per person. Feel free to dress to the 1920s era theme. No jeans, shorts, flip flops, or turkey costumes please.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.suncitygrand.com or at the Sun City Grand Activities Desk. Snacks and soft drinks welcome.
