Scheirmann helps keep residents informed

Name: Rich Scheirmann

Age: Old enough to know better.

Business name: Property Owners and Residents Association (PORA), 13815 Camino del Sol, Sun City West; 623-5844288 or email rscheirmann@porascw.org.

Town/neighborhood: Corte Bella and Sun City West.

Personal background highlights: George Lucas gave me an award and I once got a hole in one. I am also a master of sarcasm, but most consider that to be a lowlight.

Professional background highlights: Went from film maker to graphic artist to marketing pundit and then multimedia professional.

What I do: I bring ridiculous ideas to life.

What I like most about doing business here: I love working for a cause and helping people.

Previous occupation and why I left: “All I’m askin’ is for a little respect...” Aretha Franklin

Changes I’d like to see in this area: I think the West Valley needs more connectivity. Most of the organizations and groups in this area seem isolated. We all offer amazing services, I so contemplate what we could accomplish as a cohesive community.

What am I promoting: Love and PORA’s services.

What I’m excited about and why: Creativity. Anything that I see or experience that is unorthodox.

Favorite community cause and why: PORA, because they pay me and we are also one of the leading support organization for Sun City West residents.

When and why I started my business/employment here: I became the multimedia creator and manager a few months ago.

Where I came from and why I left: California. I had a desire for extreme heat and melanoma.

My family: …is my life and they are the “reason.” But, do not let them read this survey. I’d rather they didn’t know.

My interest and hobbies: Film, writing, art, music, comedy, racketeering and friendship bracelets.

People who inspire me and how: The misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes; the ones who see life differently.

My guiding philosophy: The 29th verse of the Tao Te Ching. Synopsized — try not to control or grasp life. Be detached from desire and yet compassionate toward other people’s wants/needs. Let life move through you and then observe what happens. Remain at the center of the circle because you can not see the whole picture, when you fall to the outside.

My advice to today’s youth: You are missing life! “Stop looking at your phone!”
