Royal Cafe will offer Easter dinner in Sun City

Customers will set their own price

Residents who want to skip cooking for Easter dinner will have an option in Sun City.

Royal Cafe, 10793 W. Grand Ave., Sun City will be open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, April 12 serving ham, turkey or prime rib dinners with all the fixings. The dinners will be available as take out orders only, in compliance with Gov. Doug Ducey’s order earlier this month, according to Tom Schoenke, Royal Cafe owner.

“We’re trying to do what little we can during this time,” Mr. Schoenke said.

Advance orders are recommended, although customers can drop by and make their orders. To order ahead, call 623-875-0676.

There is no set price for any of the dinners ordered on Easter Sunday, according to Mr. Schoenke.

“Customers can pay what they can or want to pay,” he said.

As this is a new approach for the restaurant, Mr. Schoenke said he does not know what to expect.

“I suppose some people will be generous and others will pay less,” he said. “And I have no idea how many customers we’ll have.”

Royal Cafe closed for a brief time following Gov. Ducey’s order regarding restaurants, but the establishment reopened, but with less staff, according to Mr. Schoenke.

“We’re just trying to feel our way through all this,” he said. “There is a thing called coronavirus out there; it’s been in all the papers.”
