Hawn: Resident offers ideas for SCW palm trees

Posted

I’ve missed walking around the circular second-level track at the Palm Ridge Recreation Center during the shutdown, not only for the exercise but also the sprawling views with each of the 13 laps that represent a mile.

The tall palm trees in particular provide an unmatched beauty of our aging community.

I have some suggestions for the letter writers who want our palm trees uprooted to save money. Why not remove a couple of the seven Association golf courses as well? Maybe we can find other ways to cut expenses. Better yet, why not plant more cactus to save on water bills and fire some of our gardeners who care for the colorful flowers that line our streets?

At age 90, saving money has become considerably less important. Look around, people, and enjoy the beauty of our community. Or, perhaps you might find another less expensive place to live without the palms.
