The Sun City West Art Club is offering an online workshop in “Painting the Sonoran Desert in Watercolor” Saturday, July 23. Betty Carr will conduct the class 10 a.m.-3 p.m. using Zoom.
Carr will have multiple reference photos and will focus on instructing students how to merge more than one reference photo into a painting. As always, capturing the light will be an important element of her class.
Students need to provide their own supplies and have appropriate computer connections. This workshop will focus on watercolor techniques in painting the effects of light in a sunrise over the Sonoran desert.
The “how tos” in achieving dynamic, impressionistic paintings by using painterly and textural play will be demonstrated. Skies are a wonderful subject to paint with watercolor, and the class will explore the fluid characteristics of this great media.
Art Club members can sign up using the club website, art.scwclubs.com. Non-member residents of Sun City West may also sign up and be placed on a wait list for the class. The cost for this workshop is $60. There is an additional $10 fee for guests.
