George McMahon was born and grew up in the Bronx of New York City. After high school he attended Pace University where he received a BBA in marketing. He then enrolled in the New York Institute of Technology and proceeded to earn his masters degree.

After finishing college, Mr. McMahon became a jack of many trades: assistant college professor, banking, marketing director for Hertz trucking division. However, his primary work was done in the franchise consulting area.

He also found he had an interest in photography and after refining his skills he entered the professional side and started his own portrait business. Mr. McMahon says he prefers photographing humans over nature and landscapes, however he has done some nice monotone images. Through his business, Mr. McMahon has helped numerous aspiring models obtain work by helping them build their portfolios.

Mr. McMahon met and married his wife, Lorraine, 30 years ago in New York where they worked raised two children until retirement. His parents had retired to Sun City and were original owners in the phase 3 development, so after many visits to the “Valley of the sun,” they decided to retire here also.

Upon his to arrival to Sun City, Mr. McMahon joined the Camera Guild and still serves on the board as an at-large director, teaches live model photography and has run a class on lighting for portrait photography.

Some of Mr. McMahon’s portrait work can be viewed at suncityaz.org/recreation/clubs/camera-guild-of-sun-city.
