Totten: Not all are happy with way things are in Sun City

Posted

In response to Carol McDade’s letter (“Understand why comment period limited,” Sun City Independent, April 20, 2022), I am guilty. But in my defense, it’s hard to stay quiet when one has passion.

I agree that there are many, many more people who are happy here just the way things are. However, I think the first member board exchange may indicate that others aren’t as happy as they could be. Or that our nonprofit organization has approximately $16 million in cash due to carry forward money from previous years but is concerned about spending $125,000 on new fitness equipment.

I apologize to Ms. McDade and to the community for my passion. But I welcome anyone who is interested in learning more about our community to consider joining the Sun City Advocates. We have a blog at suncityadvocates.com. You can read it with no obligation on your part and can sign up to receive our email newsletters. Our passion is to communicate, educate and participate in this great community. And do continue to come to the member board exchanges and the more “formal” board meetings at the Sundial auditorium. Last but not least, this fall, be sure and vote for the candidate of your choice when it’s time to elect new Recreation Centers of Sun City board members.

Eliminate the excuses and create solutions.
