Sun City residents donate grand piano to Banner Boswell Medical Center

Posted

It’s music to the ears of patients, families, staff and visitors. A beautiful grand piano now graces the lobby at Banner Boswell Medical Center, thanks to the generosity of Sun City residents Lavon and Bob Rosecky. They graciously donated their 1994 Samick piano to the hospital through Sun Health Foundation.

Beautiful, soothing strains of music can now be heard whenever anyone sits down to tickle the ivories.

The Roseckys, who recently moved to the Royal Oaks Community, decided to sell their Sun City lake home. Unable to take their beloved piano with them, they began exploring several donation options. After the home sold, it turned out they had just a few weeks to complete the move and find a home for the piano. Time was of the essence. As long-time friends of the Foundation, the Roseckys reached out to Gina W. Ore, Chief Philanthropy Officer, for help. Ore and team quickly approached Banner Boswell’s Administration staff, who gratefully accepted the donation. Mrs. Rosecky says it was a series of tiny miracles that led the piano to its new home.

She adds the most “moving” of miracles came in a phone call from Ore to Mrs. Rosecky just an hour and a half after the piano arrived.

“Brian Standage, who was the hospital’s Chief Operating Officer at the time, sat down at the piano and played ‘Amazing Grace’ while patients, family and staff were seen with tears in their eyes and running down their cheeks. Our tears flowed too upon hearing that news,” recalls Mrs. Rosecky.

“It was at that moment that I was struck with the thought of how this ‘moving miracle’ and its music will serve to help soothe countless stressed souls for many years to come,” adds Mrs. Rosecky.

In addition to the piano donation, the Roseckys have generously offered to provide a lifetime donation of piano tuning. The couple was present for the tuning following the move and experienced the joy of witnessing a young man stopping the wheelchair he was escorting so he could dance to the music.

“We, at Sun Health Foundation, are deeply honored to welcome this donation that will both delight and comfort,” says Ore. “Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Rosecky, for sharing your joy of music with so many. Your donation is a true expression of Generosity for Generations, the heart of this Sun Health Foundation Campaign dedicated to improving the lives of countless patients thanks to the community’s support.”

“What a great day it was to receive a call from Sun Health Foundation about this donation,” says Sharon Lind, CEO of Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb medical centers. “We’re so grateful to the Roseckys for the gift of music that helps enhance the experience of all who enter our doors.”
