Tai Chi classes ongoing at Sun Cities church

Tai Chi, which is recommended by Harvard Medical School to help with flexibility, muscle toning and increasing balance, and can be done at any age, is a series of movements based on Chinese martial arts that incorporate a slow, gentle flow of movement with relaxed muscles and a focus on steady breath along with the movements.

Jan Stittleburg leads a class 1 p.m. Fridays at the Desert Garden United Church of Christ, 18818 N. 128th Ave. This is an on-going class focusing on the Yang Old Style form set, also known as the 108 form.

Although this is a rather advanced form, beginners are welcome to join at any time. These classes are open to anyone.

With more than 20 years of Tai Chi practice in Yang and Wudang styles, teaching for more than 10 years, Stittleburg brings a gentle, humorous method of instruction, adjusting moves to fit aging bodies while keeping the integrity of the original movements.

A Zoom class in Qigong (stretching, flexibility and balance exercises) is also available 1 p.m. Mondays.
