Svendsen: Little has changed in a year’s time in Sun City

After watching the entirety of the Nov. 1 annual meeting, I express disappointment and frustration at the “movement” our bored (not a typo; I call the majority members that on purpose) has made.

Even the lake has balked at draining. Nothing has been done!

Again, I hear admonitions from owner-members expressing frustration at the lack of respect with the eye-rolling and other shows of disrespect by certain bored members. Darla Akins did not disappoint and even got called out for her behavior. Is this the same Director Akins, quoted in the Independent as one who will “work to help the board continue to improve communications with Sun City residents?” Really? She is running on this tired old mantra? Does she not see or hear herself on video?

Coming up very shortly is your golden opportunity to demonstrate your support for a future responsive, transparent and integral board. Let us get away from the bored we now have by electing Steve Collins, Jean Totten and John Fast to replace the worn out, the uppity, the disrespectful bunch we have now.

Your vote for these three tosses the majority where it should have been in the first place — with the people!
