Rotary club honors outgoing president

The Sun City West Rotary Club, which includes members from Sun City West and Sun City, honored outgoing president Robert Pratt and welcomed incoming president Johanna Burton-Fuller.

Mr. Pratt has worked to maintain the values that define Rotary: “Friendship, Integrity, Diversity, Service and Leadership.” In this era of uncertainty and unprecedented challenges, Mr. Pratt led the club with reliability and steadfastness during his tenure. Ms. Burton-Fuller, on behalf of the entire club, presented him with a commemorative plaque of appreciation.

Ms. Burton-Fuller then presented the 2020-2021 Rotary Vision: “Together we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe in our communities and in ourselves.”

She also defined the Sun City West Rotary chapter’s goals for this coming year. These will include emphasizing membership recruitment and involvement. Fundraising endeavors will focus on local and widely held sustainable projects. Ms. Burton-Fuller stated, along with the many local charities the club supports, that she is most excited about Stage Four of the Arizona Navajo Water Project. This effort will continue bringing clean water and electricity to Navajos living in the more extreme areas of Arizona.

Maintaining awareness of the challenges presented by the ongoing Covid-19, the Rotary club’s goal is to creatively involve members in fundraising activities while abiding by state and federal guidelines of social distancing and masks. Members have begun meeting again in person the first three Fridays of the month at the Foundation Building in Sun City West, 14465 R.H. Johnson Blvd., starting noon July 10.
