Raymond Sylvester Burley Ray went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Ann Burley (Cook) who passed away in 1999 and his son-in-law, Wayne Walters who passed away in 2021. Ray is survived by two siblings: Richard Burley and Barbara Swint and five children: Dwight (Holly), Dorothy (Lee), Regina (Wayne), James (Kim), and David (Jacqueline). Ray had seven grandchildren: Heather, Jessica, Jason Kirby, Anthony Walters (Sarah), Nathan Walters (Jessika), Michelle Kirby (Danny), and Elizabeth Burley. Ray also had eight great-grandchildren: Brayden Kirby, Talan Kirby, Brielle Kirby-Ferruzola, Amber Walters, Jakob Walters, Liam Walters, Ayden Walters, and Oliver Walters. Ray was born in Hamlin, NY in 1934. He joined the USAF in 1952 and was Honorably Discharged after serving 20 years, including 1 year in Vietnam. He achieved the rank of TSgt. After his Retirement from the USAF, Ray worked at the Adobe Correctional Facility until the death of his wife. Ray volunteered at Banner Boswell Hospital for many years, where he met some great friends. He loved to go to the Casino and play the slots, putting puzzles together and building model airplanes. In keeping with his wishes, no memorial service is planned.
