Members of the Sun City Agua Fria National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter carpooled, as a conservation effort, to attend the Saguaro NSSAR Chapter presentation of awards to Christopher Raso’s seventh-grade Social Studies class at Canyon Ridge Elementary School, 17359 W. Surprise Farms Loop North.

These members included Chapter Regent Twila Lobitz, Historian Linda Lundberg, Parliamentarian Kathie Mittelsteadt and Honorary Chapter Regent Shirley Staggs and the awards were given to first, second and third place students for creating winning posters and brochures, which were judged by Saguaro NSSAR Chapter member Ray Barkhaus.

First place winners also won first place at the NSSAR Arizona state conference and those students will participate in the National SAR Conference.

Raso also presented three copies of the Veteran Heritage Project 2021 book “Since You Asked,” Arizona Edition, to the Agua Fria NSDAR Chapter, to Saguaro NSSAR Chapter President Mike Fisch and to Vietnam veteran Dennis Grau and his wife, Harriett, for sponsorship of veteran interviews, which were printed in the book.

A copy of the book and a video had been sent to the Library of Congress in Washington, DC for military history preservation.
