Harpist Heidi Hernandez will open the 2022 summer concert series at Bellevue Heights Church 6 p.m. Sunday, June 5.

Known as Summer Sundae Sunday, the programs feature the music of noted instrumentalists or vocal groups. Everyone is invited and there is no charge for admission. A love offering will be accepted.

After each performance, attendees are invited to enjoy free ice cream sundaes in Franklin Hall on the church campus at 9440 W. Hutton Drive.

Born and raised in Oklahoma, Dr. Hernandez earned master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Arizona where she was honored as an outstanding teaching assistant. She has performed as a harpist internationally and has participated in many harp contests in America and abroad. She is a long-time member of the Phoenix Symphony and has a private teaching studio with students from pre-school age to senior adults.

Other concerts in the series this summer include Sounds of the Southwest Singers July 3; an international musical group from Israel known as One Lev, Aug. 21; and the piano and trumpet artistry of Nicole Pesce and Dan Reed Sept. 18.
