David Lee Andrews, of Sun City, joined his parents, sons Brian and Timmy, and brothers Dick and Fred with our Heavenly Father on July 19, 2022. He was born in Mobridge, South Dakota on October 31, 1936. While attending Mobridge HS Dave worked for his uncle at the Tas-Tee Bakery and developed his love of electronics replacing lights atop radio towers in Mobridge. Dave attended South Dakota State College one year before joining the Army, serving his country honorably for three years. While serving Dave was loaded on a ship and sent to Korea. Shortly after his discharge Dave moved to Phoenix in 1960.
Dave met the love of his life in Phoenix, Betty Lee Mayberry, soon to be Andrews, and they wed on November 10, 1966. They both shared an affinity for treehouses. Over the next 56 years Dave’s second love was building a home that raised six children, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and every other family member that needed help. Dave loved traveling, family, holidays, and big hugs. Dave was Sun Devil through and through after graduating ASU in 1977. Dave’s passion was in electronics and computers. Dave put that passion to work in pioneering IT roles at the Scottsdale Unified School District, First Federal Savings & Loan, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department and retired from Honeywell Bull, Inc. in 2003. When Dave wasn’t busy with family and work, he was either slinging 15lb balls at 10 formidable pins or enjoying his wood working, but he hated plumbing. He also enjoyed golfing, volunteering and was an avid reader.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Betty, sisters Phyllis Coffin and Linda McQuillen, brothers Robert, Roger and Jeff, sons Chuck and Dan, daughters Debbie and Barbara and every other person’s life he touched.
