Members of the Sun City Agua Fria National Society Daughters of the American Revolution presented veterans with Vietnam War era 50th anniversary commemorative lapel pins, two buttons, two magnets, a brochure that explains the meaning of the symbols on the pin and a “thank you for your service” letter from the chapter.
United States flag pins were also given to those present at Sun City Sunland Memorial Park.
The veterans were asked to introduce themselves, tell what branch or branches of military service they were in and tell an interesting experience they may have had while serving.
Terri Flowers, Veteran Relations representative from Dignity Memorial Funeral Homes of Phoenix, provided free coffee and donuts. The free coffee and donuts currently given on the second Tuesday of the month will be suspended until March 2021.
The Sun City NSDAR chapter became a Commemorative Partner with the U.S. Department of Defense to recognize, honor and thank all US military veterans who served between Nov. 1, 1955, thru April 15, 1975, regardless of location.
Presenting commemorative pins will continue through Veterans Day 2025. Any organization may join the Commemoration Partners Program by visiting VietnamWar50th.com.
