Chandler: Residents invited to join NVC team

Posted

We are a leadership team of volunteers coming together each week to build on the essence of what Northwest Valley Connect is all about.

What if we could solve all of our communities’ transport issues of a special population that is 65 and older, people with disabilities and our veterans by connecting an available ride to every request that lacks access to public transportation because of nonexistence or fragmented services?

We believe we can, and we invite you to join us!

A we have good news!

Once you may have been an active volunteer or considered volunteering but are sequestered because of COVID-19. Today’s approach for engaging the invaluable and underused talents and skills of people like yourself who are willing to volunteer is through virtual opportunities.

Northwest Valley Connect is an essential transport business since 2014 serving west valley communities with phenomenal growth as a result of amazing volunteer efforts. An annual 11-12% growth rate began with 255 rides in 2015 to 17,000 in 2019. Commencing in March our volunteer services focused on medical assistance transport, online food shopping, food bank pick-up and delivery and “well check” calls. As community businesses and resources reopen we need drivers using personal vehicles or NVC vans with wheelchair accommodations.

Virtual is the go-to for opportunities and we are offering participating volunteer roles in advocacy, events, customer service, marketing, training, bookkeeping, data entry and more. Have you seen our website? A retired senior applied her skills in website design and manages the site virtually from home. She joined NVC as an office assistant, got involved and saw a need for the website — viola! Just one example.

Nationally recognized and certified by the Points of Light Service Enterprise Initiative Arizona, NVC volunteers are managed, trained and developed in leadership skills according to proven best practices.

We are reaching out and invite you to attend NVC volunteer orientation 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, which will be conducted as a Zoom conferencing meeting. Please sign up on our website under the event with your email address and a Zoom invitation will be sent to you. Or call 623-282-9300 or email Ware.trudy@gmail.com for instructions and information on the Zoom meeting.

NVC Leadership Team of Volunteers believes your participation will be an experience that changes the way you think about volunteer engagement!
