Artists by the Lake is ‘going to the birds’

Posted

Artists by the Lake recently hung its summer painting challenge, “Going to the Birds,” in its outside display cases at the art room on the second floor of the Lakeview Center.

The public is invited to view the work.

Each member was challenged to create a bird and the results were as varied and individual as club members.

The club is accepting new members. Dues are $10 a year for anyone with a valid RCSC card.

September classes began Sept. 12, including Drawing with Malcolm Blazer and Advanced Oil and Acrylic with Malcolm Blazer. On Thursday afternoons, there is a class for any level acrylic and oil taught by Aileen Garvey and Georgia Feiste.

Classes are an extra fee and individuals must be a member to take part. These classes will continue in October with the addition of a colored pencil class, a watercolor class and a pastel class.

Artists by the Lake meet 9 a.m.-noon Thursdays. Everyone brings their supplies and members work on individual projects, but the sharing of ideas and support by fellow members is a motivator to keep creating and growing as an artist.
