Surprise residents can learn how to reduce water usage and help the city conserve water by signing up for free fall landscaping workshops.

Outdoor water use accounts for approximately 50% of the city’s residential water usage. This water seeps into the ground and is not recycled into the city’s water portfolio.

Attend a workshop and learn how to reduce the amount of water wasted.

  • Desert Lawn Care is from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18. Keeping a beautiful lawn in the desert can be challenging, let Surprise Water help you keep a yard attractive. Irrigation specialist Dave Pratt will cover the basics of proper maintenance, fertilizing, and watering for a beautiful, water-efficient lawn.
  • Watering by the Numbers is from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16. Water wise landscaping matches how much water plants really need with how much water an irrigation system applies. Additional topics included in this course are turf watering, irrigation system components and controller programming.
  • Irrigation Maintenance, Troubleshooting and Repair is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3. Learn cost-saving tips on finding and fixing leaks, and overall irrigation system maintenance and troubleshooting.
