Word: Music gives so many gifts to all

Posted

Mr. Barry Spinka (“Resident not happy to hear driveway music”), you really are the Grinch of Sun City.

I can’t even believe that you wrote this letter about our driveway concert at two in the afternoon. Maybe at 9-10 at night but not at two. Shame on you.

Have you ever volunteered your talents, time, creativity and energy to Sun City? We are the city of volunteers, and all we wanted to do was bring a little joy, fun and music to our community that has been under lockdown for 10 months. Music is the universal language. Music is good for the soul. Music can cure what medicine never will. Music is life.

You need to get a life and maybe it needs to be in another community other than Sun City. There is a lot of land in the desert where you can live and there won’t be any noise to disturb you at two in the afternoon. You said that you are going to have a fine imposed upon us under Maricopa County noise ordinance P-23 for $300 if we violate it — at two in the afternoon. Shame on you again.

We have collected more than $800 to give to the food bank for performing these concerts. What have you given? I’ll tell you, just nasty words of ridicule, blame and complaining about us making music at two in the afternoon so people have some joy.

I feel very sorry for you that you don’t enjoy music. Have you ever attended a concert, parades, a football game, New Years Eve celebrations and maybe even coyotes howling at night in the desert? Noise, noise, noise.

Anyway, I have said enough of how I feel. To end on a good note, I hope you have a happy 2021. When this virus is done, everyone is going to have some fun, and I won’t stop playing my music for anyone!
