Way: Sun City Elks need your help to help Gila Bend storm victims

Posted

You have probably heard that Gila Bend was devastated by flooding over the past weekend. Exalted Ruler Michelle Gibbons of Gila Bend Lodge No. 2089 has requested help for the community.

On Aug. 18, we took two truckloads of supplies to Gila Bend Lodge for distribution to those who are in need. Thanks to Wickenburg Lodge No. 2160 with a donation of $500, our own Ladies Auxiliary with $150, PERs gave $200, and the RV Club gave $300 along with some individual donations.

We were able to take $1,500 in supplies (shovels, rakes, brooms, mops, buckets, socks, sponges, first-aid items and various other items) to Gila Bend Lodge. Most families have lost everything (cars, furniture, appliances, etc.)

Donations are still being accepted in the office as well as in the lounge. We will be sending checks periodically to Gila Bend Lodge for disbursement to those families in need. Cash donations sent to Gila Bend will help in purchasing used appliances (such as refrigerators, etc.) and any other needs that arise.

I am proud to say our lodge is very generous to those in need. Elks Care, Elks Share. When we ask, you always come through and give.

Please open your hearts and wallets to help the Indian nation of Gila Bend rebuild. Make checks payable to: Sun City Lodge No. 2559. Please specify that your donation is for “Help for Gila Bend.”

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
