Award-winning accordionist Gabe Hall-Rodrigues joins Driftwood Quintet to present Astor Piazzolla’s Suite Del Ángel, depicting an angel’s journey to save a small town in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The performance starts at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14 at the Glendale Main Public Library, 5959 W. Brown St.

The Phoenix-based quintet is a chamber group dedicated to crossing genres and bending boundaries in classical music. Through the work of Driftwood’s arrangers, a performance can feature anything from orchestral masterworks or piano works to soundtracks from the greatest video games and films.

Driftwood also seeks to create experiences through collaborations with artists from a variety of disciplines, ranging from jazz musicians and singer/songwriters to dancers and visual artists. The quintet consists of Dominique Holley, Diego Espinoza, Melissa Malork, Ryan LeMoine and Ben Paley.

Additional works from some of Latin America’s most influential composers will fill out the Nov. 14 program, including Arturo Marquez’s thrilling Danzón No. 2 (Mexico) and Teresa Carreño’s lush String Quartet in B minor (Venezuela).

This event is free and is funded by a city of Glendale Performing Arts Grant.
