Valley Partnership announced Thursday the 2021 Community Project will be a $25,000 challenge grant and volunteer day of action benefitting Salvation Army Tempe.
Valley Partnership has given back with an annual community project for more than 30 years. This year, the organization is focusing on how the industry can help those most in need within our community.
“For the past year, many within our community have found themselves in difficult circumstances due to the global pandemic,” said Cheryl Lombard, President and CEO of Valley Partnership, in a prepared statement. “Community service organizations such as Salvation Army Tempe play a critical role in helping our most vulnerable get life-saving services and support. We are pleased to partner with Salvation Army Tempe to help raise much-needed resources and provide volunteers. We encourage businesses and individuals to contribute what they can to this important effort.”
Valley Partnership will match dollar-for-dollar donations to the Valley Partnership Community Project Fund until a total of $25,000 is reached between now and December 17th. 100 percent of donations will go directly to Salvation Army Tempe.
"As a growing urban community, we face many challenges, but I am grateful for the dedication and commitment of community partners such as Valley Partnership and Salvation Army Tempe who continue to answer the call of service," said Corey Woods, Mayor of Tempe, in a statement. "Our community has come together during these difficult times to care for those in need, and I look forward to joining other community leaders in December for the volunteer day of action."
Valley Partnership is hosting a community action day with local leaders on Dec. 4th at the Salvation Army Tempe to help with landscape maintenance, pack food and hygiene boxes, and paint the facility.
“We are incredibly grateful to Valley Partnership for their generosity in selecting The Salvation Army in Tempe as the recipient of the 2021 challenge grant and volunteer day of action," said Major Claudia Ruiz. “The work we do within the community is dependent on donations and volunteer hours so we can serve more vulnerable members of our community. The grant and volunteer day will allow us to meet our mission to provide services to help feed the hungry and support those facing difficulty at this time.”
