The Westin Tempe nears completion eying a late Summer 2021 opening

The Westin Tempe has announced the property is nearing completion and is expected to make its debut this August, which proponents contend, marks the city’s largest new hotel opening in nearly four decades.

A part of Tempe’s downtown district, the full-service hotel is offering 290 spacious guest rooms and suites envisioned as the quintessential destination for the modern, wellness-focused traveler, according to a press release.

The Westin Tempe is at 11 E. 7th Street in Tempe.

Along with approximately 21,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, the hotel will also encompass three dining concepts, which are:

  • Terra Tempe Kitchen & Spirits, a signature, ground-floor restaurant offering a contemporary take on Southwestern cuisine;
  • Skysill Rooftop Lounge, the Valley’s highest open-air rooftop bar and lounge on the 18th floor that boasts its own curated menu of shareable plates and craft cocktails; and
  • Cup of Joe Market Café, a relaxed, quick-service bistro with grab-and-go options and retail merchandise.

Longtime Arizona hospitality leaders Patti Hunt and Ryan Kirby have been appointed as the hotel’s general manager and the director of sales and marketing, respectively. Between the two they offer four decades of combined hospitality experience to the executive team, the release states.

“We are thrilled to be part of the city of Tempe’s growth and expansion over the last several years. Our brand-new hotel will fill a niche in the market for travelers who are looking not only for an elevated experience, but a premium wellness hotel brand that will empower them to control and enhance their well-being while traveling,” said Patti Hunt in a prepared statement.

“With The Westin Tempe’s gorgeous biophilic design, numerous dining destinations including the highest rooftop bar in the Valley, first-class meeting and event spaces and direct access to all that downtown Tempe has to offer, we look forward to being the optimal retreat for leisure guests and business professionals alike.”

An opening date will be announced in the coming weeks, however guests can pre-book fall stays from August 29 and beyond.
