Suspect 'brandished' handgun at 2 people, Apache Junction police say

An aggravated assault was reported Saturday near the 300 block of South Silver Drive in Apache Junction, with officers responding at about 1:15 p.m., police said.

“When officers arrived on scene they spoke with a victim who reported that he was punched in the face and then held at gunpoint by 24-year-old David Charles Kammes,” Cpl. Marshall Harshman, Apache Junction Police Department’s public information officer, said. “Later that same day, Kammes reportedly brandished a gun at another man in the same area, corroborated by an independent eyewitness.”

Mr. Kammes was later located, found to be in possession of a handgun and was taken into custody without further incident, police said.

Mr. Kammes was transported to the Pinal County Detention Center where he was booked on one count of disorderly conduct with a weapon and one count of aggravated assault.

The public is reminded that all suspects are considered innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law, police said.
