Super Bowl Host Committee, NFL open applications for nonprofit grants

The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee is partnering again with the National Football League Foundation in offering the Super Bowl Legacy Grant Program, which will invest more than $2 million in nonprofit organizations across Arizona.
The Legacy Grant Program is presented by APS, PetSmart, Salt River Project and The Thunderbirds and will provide grants to nonprofits with track records of benefitting underserved Arizonans.
Proposals can be submitted by eligible, local 501(c)(3) organizations in operation for at least three years should directly serve Arizona residents. Details and the application are available on //azsuperbowl.com/legacy.
The program application period is open from Aug. 2 through Aug. 29, 2023.
“By supporting organizations that make real and indelible changes, the Legacy Grant Program will help achieve long lasting positive impact for years to come,” said David Rousseau, board chair of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee in a statement.
The program focuses on four areas: eduction, diversity, environment and sustainability, and health and wellness.
“Creating positive community impact is paramount to our mission,” said Jay Parry, president and chief executive officer of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee.
The effort is one benefit for regions hosting the Super Bowl. Similar efforts were conducted during previous games held in Glendale.
“The NFL prioritizes leaving a lasting legacy in each of its host cities that positively impacts the local community, starting long before the Super Bowl kicks off and for years after the game has concluded," said Alexia Gallagher, executive director of NFL Foundation and NFL vice president of philanthropy in a statement.
