It took some time, but a care center is now “Sun City eligible.”
Staff at Sun Valley Lodge, 12415 N. 103rd Ave., is celebrating 55 years of providing Independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing care services in the community. The facility is located in a unincorporated area of Maricopa County that was established in 1960 as an age restricted active adult community. Sun City residents must be at least 55 to live in the community.
Sun Valley Lodge doors opened in 1965 as the first retirement community of its kind in Sun City. Founded by the United Church of Christ Sun City, this nonprofit organization was created on the promise to provide high-quality, affordable living alternatives for seniors in a safe, warm and trusting environment.
Since the beginning, Sun Valley Lodge has met and cared for thousands of individuals and families through every season of life.
“We pride ourselves on having long-tenured staff who have served residents for years, as well as serving second generation residents. We cherish every person and family member we’ve had the pleasure of serving,” said Dean Kidder, Sun Valley Lodge executive director.
Through the past 55 years, the community has continued to thrive and grow adding more amenities, renovation projects, and conveniences for residents.
