Sun City actor starring in ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ at Desert Stages Theatre

Bobby Havens, a resident of Sun City and member of Sun City Players Community Theater, will portray the beloved Morrie Schwartz in Mitch Albom’s staged production of “Tuesdays with Morrie.”

He is co-starring with Valley thespians Cliff Williams as Mitch Albom.

This limited showing at Desert Stages Theatre, inside Scottsdale’s Fashion Square, will run through July 2, 3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays only. Tickets are available at desertstages.org.

“This show is not about a college professor diagnosed with a disease and a very short time to live,” said Havens. “It’s about an wise, aged man who realizes he only has a very short time to instill the true meaning of life in a young man who is not living his life well.”

Havens has been onstage most of his adult life. He is a two-time AriZoni-nominated performer and has appeared in numerous theaters across the Valley. He was last seen as Walter Keegan in “The Country House” at Stage Left Productions in Surprise and his next appearance will be at Sun City Players Community Theater as Curt Logan in “Don’t Talk to the Actors.” That show will run Oct. 21-30. Tickets are available at suncityplayerscommunitytheater.org.

This holiday season, Havens will portray the absent minded Uncle Billy in the beloved Christmas story “It’s a Wonderful Life” at Don Bluth Front Row Theater in Scottsdale. That show will run Nov. 17-Dec. 30. Tickets available at donbluthfrontrowtheatre.com.
