Simenson: We need reasonable gun regulations in America

Posted

I woke up in the middle of the night with tears following the testimony of loved ones before Congress about the loss of their loved ones; about the testimony of the Uvalde Doctor checking bodies of children shredded so badly, some were only able to be identified by their clothing and a pair of little green tennis shoes: Little green tennis shoes with a little black heart drawn on the toe.

Politicians, as you weigh gun rights issues, I would like you to remember and see those little green tennis shoes with the little black heart on the toe, and ask: “Where do rights end and responsibilities start?”

Gun owners, when you look at that people-killing machine, designed and built only for that purpose, I want you to think of and see those little green tennis shoes with a black heart on the toe!

In order to drive a vehicle, all users are required to go through written rules on safety and demonstrate proper safe use of a vehicle. Is that too much to ask of gun owners?

Second Amendment gun supporters, keep your killing machines. But, is it too much to limit high velocity bullets that shred bodies so that it takes a pair of little green tennis shoes with a black heart on the toe to identify a body?

I am 89 years old, a four-year U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran and owned a rifle for big game hunting only.
