Sellers: 2020 election was run with integrity

Posted

I understand the Arizona Senate has moved forward with selecting and contracting with firms to complete their review of the November 2020 General Election results. I am not familiar with any of the firms listed in the Senate press release.

Judge Thomason’s ruling in the case of Maricopa County, et al. v. Karen Fann, et al. required Maricopa County to turn over all subpoenaed materials, including 2.1 million voted ballots, to the Arizona Senate Chambers. These materials have been ready for delivery for the past month and the county stands ready to comply with the subpoena.

I have not had discussions with the Senate president regarding the use of county facilities.

I believe the 2020 elections were run with integrity. Maricopa County conducted two extensive and independent audits of the 2020 General Election in February. They showed no evidence of equipment malfunction or foul play.

These findings, in addition to the hand count audit completed by the political parties and accuracy tests before and after the election, affirm no hacking or vote switching occurred in the 2020 election.

Elections are complicated and highly regulated operations. Maricopa County hired certified experts to conduct its audits and examinations of equipment. I hope the auditors hired by the Senate will take great care with your ballots and the election equipment leased with your tax dollars.

Jack Sellers is chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and represents county District 1.
