A special speaker is coming to a local church in Sun City West.

His life story inspired a book and a major motion picture. And Shephard of the Hills United Methodist Church is opening up the opportunity for all residents to hear an inspirational story and find encouragement.

Travis Freeman lost his sight at age 12 after a routine illness and left his dreams of football and fun on the sidelines. The major motion picture, “23 Blast,” and the book, “Lights Out,” were inspired by his life journey.

The movie will show 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2 at Shephard of the Hills United Methodist Church, 13658 W. Meeker Blvd. Then, 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, Sweet Hour of Prayer Worship Service. Followed by food trucks at 5 p.m. and Freeman will speak at 6 p.m. In addition, Freeman will speak at the 9 a.m. service at the church.
