Nearly a year later, Scottsdale Police Department detectives continue to make arrests related to burglaries and riots that ensued May of 2020 at Fashion Square Mall.
Scottsdale police recently arrested 18-year-old Blaze Claeson and 29-year-old Anthony Paez on felony charges related to their involvement in the riots in downtown Scottsdale on May 30 and 31, 2020, according to a police press release.
The investigation led to identifying Claeson, who was captured on store surveillance video during the riots allegedly breaking in to the Alex and Ani store and removing merchandise, according to the release.
On May 4 and 21 of this year, he was booked and released on felony charges of burglary and forgery, the release said. Property was reportedly recovered.
Arrested on felony charges of burglary, on April 30, was Paez, who was identified though store surveillance video as a suspect entering and taking items from Sephora during the riots.
Meanwhile, the total of post-incident arrests have increased to 61 for crimes committed during the May 30-31 riots of 2020. Also, over $244,000 worth of merchandise has been returned to victim businesses.
The Scottsdale police continue following up on evidence, tips and information to bring those responsible for criminal acts to justice, the release said, adding updates will also continue as they become available.
