Scottsdale police arrest 56th, 57th person connected to May 2020 unrest

The Scottsdale Police Department has arrested two more people in relation to the downtown Scottsdale riots in May 2020.

Nicholas Dowd, 20, and Yolanda Rochel, 41, were arrested by Scottsdale detectives in April on felony charges related to their involvement in the riots.

This brings the total number of post-incident arrests to 57 for crimes committed during the May 30-31, 2020 riots. Also, over $241,000 worth of merchandise has been returned to victim businesses, police officials say.

Officials say the investigation led to identifying Mr. Dowd as a subject breaking into the AT&T store on the northeast corner of Scottsdale and Camelback roads. On April 16, he was booked and released on charges of burglary, officials say.

Ms. Rochel was identified as a suspect through her attempts to sell items stolen from Montblanc during the riots, officials say. She was arrested on April 14 on felony charges of theft and trafficking in stolen property.

Police say property valued at $6,370 was recovered.

Officials say they continue to actively follow up on evidence, tips and information.
