A man is facing several charges after he allegedly fired dozens of rounds from inside a home in Scottsdale.
According to court documents, Bartholow Park III, 55, was arrested Thursday morning on 52 counts of discharge of a firearm and criminal damage, two counts of endangerment and one count of drug possession.
Around 2:15 a.m. June 18, Scottsdale police responded to an incident near McCormick Parkway and Hayden Road. A resident told police that her neighbor had entered her house and said he was being robbed. The caller locked herself and her elderly mother in a room, and they heard multiple gunshots coming from outside.
Police arrived on scene and located the man carrying a rifle while walking down the street. According to records, the man told police various stories about why he started shooting, from street performers doing flips and chasing him, to people possibly trying to break into his home. Police noticed injuries on him that came from when he climbed over his wall to get to his neighbor's home. The man also told police he had been drinking earlier.
The victims told police the man entered their home by forcing his way through a backyard sliding glass that led into the 83-year-old mother's room.
Police located 52 spent shell casings at the victims' home, along with multiple rounds of ammunition and firearms at the suspect's residence, records state. No one was injured from the rounds.
According to court documents, Mr. Park was jailed in lieu of a $50,000 cash-only bond with a court date Jan. 25.
