Affiliated Dermatology welcomed Dr. Karan Lal as the director of pediatric dermatology and cosmetic surgery on Oct. 10. Dr. Lal joins the Scottsdale office as the only dual-fellowship trained cosmetic and pediatric dermatologist in the country.

“Dr. Lal is an expert in numerous areas including atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, melasma, psoriasis and hidradenitis, to name a few,” Suzanne Murry, COO for Affiliated Dermatology, stated in a press release. “He has worked in specialty clinics among other accomplished dermatologists and we’re happy to have him on our team.”

Lal graduated summa cum laude from the New York Institute of Technology where he completed a rigorous seven-year accelerated combined medical program. He was then selected to be an academic medical scholar and went on to receive a master of science in neuroscience.

Prior to joining Affiliated Dermatology, Lal worked for Schweiger Dermatology Group in Brooklyn, N.Y., according to the release. He specializes in pediatric and adult dermatology and is an expert in melasma, pigmentary abnormalities of the skin, body sculpting and tumescent liposuction.

“I look forward to joining the Affiliated Dermatology team and bringing my expertise to Arizona,” Lal stated. “I take pride in working with medical and cosmetic patients from all different backgrounds and I’m eager to meet every patient that walks through our doors.”

Invested in educating the public on dermatology related topics, Lal has been featured in ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Huffington Post, Romper, NBC news and Marie Claire, the release stated.

He is also currently a member of DEI Work Group for the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.

Lal will be in the Scottsdale office Tuesday to Friday.
